New Year's Eve

No show tonight due to it being New Year's Eve and me being in Indiana. However, for those craving a different kind of sound for your midnight+ festivities, here are some links to the kinds of mixes I'd be playing if I were on the air. Some of this stuff may be NSFW. That's all the warning you're going to get.

Auld Lang Syne: Various artists doing various versions of the NYE classic. I'd open my show with one of these if I were doing a show tonight.

SubSource: German electronic netlabel that features many mixes. Sundry hour-long sets with a variety of sounds and styles. Very nice.

Op3n: Another netlabel, only this one is exclusively mix sets. Again, hour-ish mixes in various styles. Generally a little more ethereal, atmospheric and esoteric than the SubSource mixes.

RadioClash: A podcast initially dedicated to bootlegs and mash-ups, it's broadened its scope to be more about music in general. Different episodes are about different themes, but they're all uniformally excellent and kicking.

It's Alive: Pittsburgh-based chiller theater. They have a streaming archive on their website of their latest episode. Currently featured is their NYE special: the film Gigantis: the Fire Monster. Guys in rubber monster suits slapping the bejeezus out of each other. Quality. Pure quality.

The Internet Archive: This can't go unmentioned. The Internet Archive. The online source for public doman and creative commons lisenced material. A boundless amount of media all free for download. A few keyword searches will invariably direct you to something you like.

Happy New Year everybody. See you next week.
